As reported last post, I’ve been painting up a storm lately. Been writing too! One would swear I was smitten lol. Somehow I can’t stay away from graffiti art for very long though. Haven’t been hitting the walls for lack of paint, but I totally got back into painting the good ole 80′s style graffiti jackets!  Every writer and graffiti fan was rockin these things back in the day and I so missed painting them that I had to do a few so off to the thrift store i went and picked up a few good Lee and Levi jackets. I was painting in no time! Got two finished so far, one on the way and another primed which is what this post is really about!

You see, one of the jackets is a Ladies Medium size and well, I dont wear those. I couldnt pass it up though because I wanted to buy as many as I could! I initially had someone in mind to be the recipient, but I don’t any more so I’m giving it away!  Well, sorta. This awesome, black denim jacket, soon to have original graffiti art on the back is now the subject of the……

WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME??? Graffiti Jacket contest!

Here’s the deal.

As a young scribbler in high school wearing my ever-so-badass graffiti jacket to class in the fall, it wasn’t unheard of to get numerous requests from the ladies for some artwork.  The demand was high enough that I couldn’t keep up with half of it(which i suppose is a good thing). Anyway, with demand so high and my only having 2 hands and 24 hours in a day, it became an auction of sorts. Sometimes for money, sometimes for goods, sometimes for an exchange of art. So that’s how I’m gonna do this one.  Your name or whatever words you want, by my hand and brushes for …..whatever you can think of!  Whoever comes up with the best offer gets the jacket.  You may or may not wear it, but trust me, you want this. It’s a one of a kind that may never happen again which makes it ridiculously collectible especially on the eve of my first gallery opening in ages!

So that’s that. Hello again! I know it’s been awhile, been busy as all bloody hell but what’s new.  Working really hard on getting canvases and other painted materials ready for my first gallery opening in 15 years.  It’s alot of fun playing around on canvas again and messing with mediums that i haven’t touched in so very long. Wish I had more to report, but been busy doing other stuff too. Odd that as we age, the passion for the art doesn’t fade at all, but the shit we have to pile on top of it makes it even more a labour of love than it was when we were kids. I am sure plenty of you oldschool heads reading this can relate.

That being said, the picture you see are looking to be the few tried and true keepers of the torch around my area.  Doing the right thing like i mentioned before. Getting the technique down on paper before they go out making messes. Doing the art because its ART not because it’s crime.  I look forward to seeing these ones around a lot in the future.

As for me, sooo much more coming, but I’ll let you know when it comes.  Seems more things trying to happen than are actually happening lately, but I am sticking to my guns and trying to pass this thing on with all of it’s traditions and practices intact.  See y’all soon.

The anticipation of leaving this place is driving me mad. Its really strange being in this environment and most people probably won’t get it, but today seems just like all the rest of the days since i got here. Nothing changes, just another day. It doesn’t feel any more like the last day here than it did on the 150th day. very strange. But regardless, just knowing that i will be going home is such a strange thought that it is a point of interest for today lol. Been working up so many projects that can’t be acted upon until i get back. This of course coming from the king of unfinished projects. I swear, the only thing i have ever finished from design to completion has been graffiti pieces on walls and trains(allegedly).  i don’t care what anyone says, graffiti art and graffiti culture have to be the greatest things for the human soul anywhere.
